From the organ’s history
1787, The Pažický Family from Rajec – New organ.
1924, Jozef Hardoník – Fundamental rebuild, no specific details of the work.
1990s – Peter Búran – Rebuild for which the two manual Rieger organ opus 63 (dated 1880) originally built for Banská Bystrica Cathedral was used. Its specification was changed; it is not, however, known whether this was when building the instrument at Brezno or when still in Banská Bystrica Cathedral.
From the original two manual organ by Pažickí of Rajec only the exceptionally interesting organ case with its so-called frontal prospect has been retained. The prospect is formed by as many as 33 pipe fields, in which largely non-speaking pipes at present stand. J. Demuth, master cabinet-maker from Brezno, and A. Marušiak, carver from Rajec, worked on the organ case. The organ has undergone many rebuilds.
