[Arnold; Valetin, Valentín]
* about 1747, Mainz (Germany)
† 10.2.1812, Trnava
Valentín Arnold was born into an organ building family in Mainz (Germany). In Vienna he married Terézia Hellerová. From 1774 he lived and worked in Trnava, where on February 28, 1776 he became a burgher and on November 7, 1778 he became a member of the town council. In extant documents he is designated "Communitatensis et Organarius". His first entry in the tax books appears in 1783. Arnold lived in the Fourth District, in the third house from the Pauline monastery, where he also had his workshop. Evidently he prospered, since by 1802 he was occupying two houses.
Arnold was one of the progressive master organ builders of his time.
